This is the monthly meeting for Group 4, the Seattle AI Local Group. Up to date details can be found at www.scn.org/amnesty/ current.html. We usually have 10-20 people at our meetings and do some kind of public event every month. All are welcome! 6:30 - 7 pm Letter writing 7pm Introductions 100 Days Letter - as this one is to President Obama and AI is collecting them in a batch to send at the right time (certainly after 1/20), I though we'd do them separately. Updates: Death Penalty Seattle Human Rights Film Festival (SHRFF) Benefit concert for SHRFF - 1/31 at Wayward Coffee JoJo's case Nickelsville Western Regional Conference report back Annual General Meeting (AGM) - Boston, March 27-29 I know it's early, but the early registration deadline is January 9, and our local AI Puget Sound subsidies time line is going by that. So if you'll need funds for airfare or hotel/hostel, etc., you need to start thinking about it now. Human Rights Day/Week Activities Dec. 10 - 60th Anniversary UDHR Concert - benefit for AI at Neumos, doors at 7, tickets $15 Dec. 11 - Seattle Human Rights Day - city's event, we're not officially involved, Town Hall, 7-9 pm, free Then, do we want to officially take part in either or both of these Human Rights Day events? Dec. 13 - Human Rights Day March - 1 pm, starts at Convention Place, to Pike Place Market, then to Westlake AI's Global Write-a-thon - sometime between Dec. 5 - 14 I've only heard back from one person each on both of these, and really think we need a few more people before we commit. If you can't make the meeting and are interested in either or both, let me know. There won't be enough time to plan at the meeting, but once we have a few people we can coordinate online or in person and get back to everyone about the where and when. 7:45 Featured Speaker: Phil Neff - former UW student and AI activist who just returned from Guatemala after nine months as an international accompanier of human rights defenders seeking justice from the government for the Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala.
